Man dies after falling from upper levels of Selfridges in Birmingham

The store will remain closed today following the tragic incident yesterday

A man has died after he fell from the top floor of Selfridges in Birmingham city centre.

The incident took place just after 7pm yesterday evening (Monday, 10 January).

West Midlands police confirmed that his death is not being treated as suspicious.

A statement from the force read: “A man has sadly died after falling from the upper level of Selfridges.

“His death is not being treated as suspicious and will be referred to the Coroner. Our sympathies are with his family and friends.”

A spokeswoman from Selfridges, said: “Following an incident instore last night, the emergency services attended and we have been assisting them with their enquiries.

“Selfridges Birmingham will remain closed today, reopening on Wednesday 12th January.
