Man, 36, charged after police seize guns and ammunition in Great Barr

A man has been charged after police found several guns at an address in Great Barr on Wednesday (18 May).

Dean Owen, aged 36, of Great Barr is accused of illegally possessing two revolvers, a shotgun, ammunition and other weapons. He has also been charged with producing cannabis.

He appeared at Walsall Magistrates Court yesterday (19 May) where he was remanded into custody.

The guns were seized and will be forensically analysed to establish whether they are linked to any offences.

A statement from West Midlands Police, read: “We’ve seized three handguns, a shotgun and several rounds of ammunition.

“As a precautionary measure EOD were also called to assess some firework-type items. These were taken away for controlled explosions.

“A 36-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of possession of firearms and remains in custody for questioning.”
