How much West Midlands Lionesses could earn on social media through their Euros victory

Two Lionesses, who have links to Birmingham, gained a significant amount of social media influence in the run up to the Euros, according to a report.

Demi Stokes, 30, and Jess Carter, 24, gained thousands more social media followers between 6 July and 27 July, says Betting.com.

The betting website claimed that the increase in following comes with potential monetary benefits. They can now charge an increased amount for sponsored posts.

Stokes was born in Birmingham but was raised in South Shields, according to England Football. She joined Sunderland at the age of 16 and was a key player for the team that reached the Women’s FA Cup Final in 2009. She helped Enlgnad win the U19 Euros in Belarus the same year. She made her way to the England squad again for the EURO 2017 where the Lionesses reached the semi-finals.

Carter’s first club was Birmingham City when she was a teen. After being capped by England at U19, U20 and U23 level, she became a part of the England senior call-up during the qualifying stages for the 2019 FIFA World Cup for a double header against France and Kazakhstan in November 2017.

According to Betting.com who crunched their earning potetential ahead of the Euros win, Stokes could earn £336.46 per sponsored post while Carter could earn £200.14.

But they are not at the top of the team when it comes to the potential to earn money from social media. With the EUROs win last night, Instagram following of the Lionesses have gone up further.

The biggest gainer among the Lionesses was Alessia Russo, whose Instagram following increased a whoping 31% bringing the total to 165,109. Captain Leah Williamson gained 12% and the total was 392,112 after the increase.

The research by Betting.com shows that Williamson could ask for £1516.98 and Russo could earn £528.80. While Lucy Bronze gained only 7% more followers, she could now charge £1283.97 per sponsored post.

Following the victory, Demi now has 72,500 followers while Carter has 36,400. Williamson’s followers stand at 510,000 and Russo’s at 249,000. Bronze’s following increased from 332,000 to 380,000.
