Joe Lycett pays tribute to iconic Birmingham takeaway on Channel 4’s Grayson’s Art Club

Joe Lycett made an appearance on Channel 4’s Grayson’s Art Club show as the series held its latest exhibition in Birmingham.
The show features Grayson Perry, one of Britain’s leading artists, and his wife, psychotherapist Philippa Perry as they bring the nation together through art, making new works and hosting masterclasses.

Hide AdIn the latest episode, Grayson visits Birmingham for the Art Club’s third national exhibition, exploring the city’s arts scene with Brummie comedian Lycett and meeting local artists including Tat Vision, discussing their work.
During his appearance on the show, Lycett also wore a Mr Egg sweater - celebrating the legendary Hurst Street fast food diner - which was designed by Rotunda Industries in Birmingham.
The fast food restaurant has become a bit of an institution in Birmingham due to its name over the years, and the eatery is sill going strong today.
Grayson’s Art Club: The Exhibition at the MAC
The Grayson’s exhibition is currently on show at the Midlands Arts Centre, and will be running until April next year.

Hide AdAs seen in the episode, it features over 100 artworks selected by Grayson Perry, Philippa Perry, and guest celebrities during season three of the popular TV series.
Artworks submitted by the public have covered a wide variety of mediums, such as photography, painting, textiles and sculpture. Exhibition themes include Love, Heroes and Heroines, Normal Life, Inside my Head, Holidays, The Future, and The Queen.
Contributing celebrities include of course include Birmingham’s Lycett, plus Bill Bailey, Jo Brand, Joe Wilkinson, Mawaan Rizwan, Katy Wix and Dame Prue Leith.
