Ian Kirwan: police seek two witnesses to come forward after Redditch Asda stabbing

Police investigating the death of Ian Kirwan in Redditch are appealing for two potential witnesses to come forward.

Two youths, aged 14 and 15, have been charged with Ian’s murder.

The charge relates to the incident on Jinnah Road on Tuesday, 8 March that led to the death of the 53-year-old Jaguar Land Rover engineer.

He was found critically injured after being knifed in front of horrified shoppers at the Asda store in Redditch.

He died at the scene from a stab wound despite the best efforts of medics and an off-duty nurse.

A further 10 youths from south Birmingham were previously arrested in connection with Ian Kirwan’s murder.

Three of the youths have been bailed and seven released with no further action.

Witness appeal

Officers have identified from CCTV in Asda of a man and a woman they believe may have information that could assist enquiries.

The man is white, wore glasses, had a grey beard and moustache and was wearing a dark hoodie and black beanie.

The woman is also white, with dark hair that was tied back. She was wearing a red coat and carrying a toddler who was wearing a white hat.

A spokesman for West Mercia Police, said: “Officers have CCTV images of the pair that cannot be released immediately but may be released if these people cannot be identified.

“Anyone that has any information that could help identify these two people is asked to please get in touch with West Mercia Police.
