Ian Kirwan: second youth charged with Redditch Asda murder

Police have charged a second youth with murder after Ian Kirwan was killed outside an Asda supermarket in Redditch last month (March).

A 15-year-old male has been charged with murder and remanded in custody, and is due to appear at Kidderminster Magistrates’ Court today (Friday 8 April).

The charge relates to an incident on Jinnah Road on Tuesday, 8 March that led to the death of 53-year-old Jaguar Land Rover engineer Ian Kirwan from Redditch.

He was found critically injured after being knifed in front of horrified shoppers at the Asda store in Redditch.

He died at the scene from a stab wound despite the best efforts of medics and an off-duty nurse.

A 14-year-old male charged with murder has already appeared at Worcester Crown Court on Monday 14 March.

A further 10 youths from south Birmingham were previously arrested in connection with Ian Kirwan’s murder.

Three of the youths have been bailed and seven released with no further action.

A spokesman for West Mercia Police, said: “Officers continue to ask anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident and saw, or captured on dash cam, anything that could help enquiries to please get in touch by visiting the website, here.
