How did Dawn and Donna create the giant egg?

The talented chocolatiers took 3 days to craft the egg, which stands at an impressive 3ft tall and weighs in at 40kg – the equivalent of 889 standard bars of Cadbury Dairy Milk.

They worked with solid milk chocolate to craft the detailed Easter scene, which sits inside, featuring an intricate array of flowers, blades of grass and hedges. Moulded pieces of chocolate were measured and cut by hand to create the cherry blossom trees, before being secured to the scene with melted milk chocolate.

The chocolatiers hand-crafted the owl, fox and two bunny rabbits in the scene by piping layers of liquid chocolate into the shape of the animal, before hand-piping the features and adding a layer of coloured cocoa butter onto the animal figures to create their distinctive coat colours.

Chocolate flowers and leaves were also carefully hand-piped directly onto the egg, adding the final flourish to the idyllic spring setting.
