A popular former student pub and music venue in Birmingham is up for sale.

Having last traded as a pub back in 2012, the former Black Horse venue, located on the corner junction of the busy A47 Jenner Road and Woodcock Street in the Gun Quarter, is now being offered on a new letting with any agreement being free-of-tie.

The closure of the pub, which is located by Birmingham City University, over a decade ago allowed for the development of the Eastside Rooms Conference Centre, the 195 bedroom Aloft Hotel and the Regional HQ office buildings.

The Eastside area has seen a lot of investment in recent years including Millennium Point, numerous education faculties as well as apartments and hotels.

The old Black Horse pub also neighbours the forthcoming Curzon Street Station, which will be the regional terminus for HS2.

For many years before its closure the Black Horse was a well known as a music venue and popular student pub. Whilst the Black Horse is wind and water tight, the property has been totally cleared down to its bare brick.

Given the level of investment required, property surveyor Fleurets envisage a minimum of a 15+ year lease, however, ‘invite allsensible proposals’. Alternatively, they say a considerably longer lease subject to a premium and peppercorn rent may be considered.
