First EGYPTAIR flights take off from Birmingham Airport to Cairo
West Midlands residents can now fly directly to the Egyptian capital four times a week.
The first ever EGYPTAIR flight from Birmingham to Cairo took off today (October 25).
The new route operates four times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays, providing a flexible travel option for the Midlands’ diverse mix of passengers, including leisure travellers, business visitors and those visiting friends and family.

Cairo, home to more than 20 million people, is one of the world’s greatest historic capitals.
Visitors can explore millennia of history at the Pyramids of Giza and the Grand Egyptian Museum, experience the energy of its markets and cafés, or cruise along the Nile.

Matt Hazelwood, chief commercial officer at Birmingham Airport, said, “We’re thrilled to see EGYPTAIR’s inaugural flight take off from Birmingham Airport.
“We’re confident this will be a popular route for those looking to get away to enjoy some winter sun and explore what Cairo has to offer.

“This service will also support the Egyptian community across the Midlands, making it easier to stay connected with loved ones and travel for business purposes.”
Captain Mohamed Elian, chairman and CEO of EGYPTAIR Airlines, said “EGYPTAIR is pleased to launch its first service to Birmingham, marking the addition of a new destination to its expanding global network and establishing Birmingham as its third destination in the United Kingdom.

“This new service will connect Birmingham seamlessly to EGYPTAIR’s extensive network across Africa, the Middle East, and the Far East, offering passengers enhanced travel options and convenient connections to a wide range of destinations worldwide.”
The inaugural event included a ceremonial cake-cutting and special gifts for passengers flying out on the airline’s Boeing 737 Max 8, with several representatives from BHX and EGYPTAIR in attendance to mark the occasion.
Tickets are available now through EGYPTAIR’s website.
