Police have appealed for more information about a car accident that lead to the death of an 80-year-old man in High Street, Rowley Regis.

West Midlands Police shared in a statement that the man was hit by a car on Saturday (5 September) afternoon. He has been named as Harry Williams. The victim’s family have joined investigators in appealing for any witnesses to the fatal incident which took place at around 2.25pm.

The 80-year-old was treated at the scene for a head injury but after being taken to hospital by paramedics. He sadly died there the following day (6 September). His family, who have asked the police to release an image of Mr Williams, said they have been left “devastated by the sudden loss of Harry and need to understand what happened”.

And they are asking anyone with any information or CCTV footage to contact investigators. They are also requesting that their privacy be respected at this dreadful time.

Sgt Julie Lyman, of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “Our thoughts are with Mr Williams’ family and friends, and our focus is on establishing exactly what happened.

“The driver of the car, a black Mercedes, remained at the scene and is assisting with enquiries. As our investigations continue, we’d also ask anyone who was in the area at around the time of the collision and has any information, CCTV or dash cam footage, to contact us.”
