Cradley Heath driver, 23, dies after his Mercedes crashes into a wall

Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision in Cradley Heath in the early hours of this morning (13 October).

A 23-year-old man, the driver of a Mercedes, died after the car he was driving crashed into a wall on Powke Lane at its junction with Coxs Lane, shortly after 12.50am.

West Midlands Police said a passenger is also in a life threatening condition after receiving a head injury. Three other passengers in the vehicle received minor injuries.

Inspector Stephen Radford, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “Our thoughts remain with the family of this man who are still coming to terms with what has happened. We have specialist family liaison officers supporting them at this very sad time.”

Fourth fatal crash in the West Midlands this month

This is the fourth fatal crash in the region so far this month. On Sunday (7 October)a 20-year-old man died in a collision on Aldridge Road, Streetly.

The Ford Fiesta he was driving was hit by a Jaguar XF, which failed to stop for police prior to this. And at the start of the month (October) two women were arrested following a fatal collision in Bournville, Birmingham.

The man who died was aged in his 20s and it is understood that he suffered serious injuries after a red Ford Focus hit a tree on Linden Road near to the junction with Beaumont Road.

And a woman who was riding a mobility scooter died after a crash with a car in Chelmsley Wood on Saturday, 1 October. The woman in her 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene.The driver of the car, a woman in her 60s, is currently assisting police with the investigation.
