Coronavirus case numbers remain stable but high across the UK, official figures show.

There were 693,096 cases in the week ending January 27, a 0.8% fall on the number seen the week before.

It is double the number of cases the UK saw in the last week of November, before the Omicron wave.

In Sandwell, cases have fallen overall. But some individual neighbourhoods have seen increases.

There rate of cases per 10,000 people in the week to January 20 was 1220.8 case, compared with 1133.9 in the week to January 27.

At neighbourhood level, Covid-19 case rates have been published for the week to January 27.

Here are the neighbourhoods in Sandwell with the biggest rise in case rates in the past week - and those seeing the biggest fall in the number of cases.

Biggest rise

1. Ocker Hill

Ocker Hill has seen case rates of positive Covid cases rise by 30.3% from 1556.5 cases per 100,000 people to 2028.7.

2. Wednesbury

Wednesbury has seen case rates of positive Covid cases rise by 12.5% from 1297.9 cases per 100,000 people to 1460.2.

3. Wood Green & Old Park

Wood Green & Old Park has seen case rates of positive Covid cases rise by 12.0% from 1428.9 cases per 100,000 people to 1600.4.

4. Oldbury & Rood End

1. Warley South

Warley South has seen case rates of positive Covid cases fall by 58.3% from 1556.4 cases per 100,000 people to 648.5.

3. Blackheath

Blackheath has seen case rates of positive Covid cases fall by 38.9%, from 2020.3 cases per 100,000 people to 1235.3.

4.Langley Green

Langley Green has seen case rates of positive Covid case fall by 38.8%, from 1482.2 cases per 100,000 people to 907.7.

5. Friar Park

Friar Park has seen case rates of positive Covid cases fall by 35.0% from 2069.3 cases per 100,000 people to 1344.2.
