Coronavirus case numbers are falling but remain high across the UK, official figures show.

There were 579,638 cases in the week ending February 03, a 16% fall on the number seen the week before.

It is still nearly double the number of cases the UK saw in the last week of November, before the Omicron wave hit.

In Birmingham, cases have fallen. There were 645.8 cases per 100,000 people the city in the week to 3 February, compared with 956.6 cases in the week to January 27.

Not all neighbourhoods in Birmingham are seeing a drop in infection rates, but the majority are.

Selly Oak has seen case rates of positive Covid cases rise by 143.8% from 358.6 cases per 100,000 people to 874.1.

2. Edgbaston South & University

Edgbaston South & University has seen case rates of positive Covid cases rise by 25.0%, from 693.5 cases per 100,000 people to 866.9.

3. North Central & Dartmouth Circus

North Central & Dartmouth Circus has seen case rates of positive Covid cases rise by 24.5%, from 347.1 cases per 100,000 people to 432.3.

4. Hall Green East

Hall Green East has seen case rates of positive Covid cases rise by 1.7% from 891.1 cases per 100,000 people to 906.2.

5. Sutton Coldfield North & Park

Sutton Coldfield North & Park has seen case rates of positive Covid cases rise by 1.5%, from 717.4 cases per 100,000 people to 728.1.

2. Druids Heath

Druids Heath has seen case rates of positive Covid cases fall by 64.7% from 1369.6 cases per 100,000 people to 483.4.

3. Saltley East

Saltley East has seen case rates of positive Covid cases fall by 63.0% from 1018 cases per 100,000 people to 376.4.

4. Hall Green Central

Hall Green Central has seen case rates of positive Covid cases fall by 57.8% from 1655 cases per 100,000 people to 699.1.

5. Handsworth South
