Community hospital to open in Kings Norton, Birmingham, to treat eye and digestive conditions

A community hospital with expertise in ophthalmology and gastroenterology is opening in Kings Norton in Birmingham.

The hospital is being run by CHEC, which is one of the UK’s leading providers of community healthcare, and it is due to open in weeks. CHEC say their new facility, which will be based at Kingsgate House at Kings Norton Business Centre, will help to reduce NHS waiting times and increase patient choice.

The health provider is currently fitting out the 7,830 square foot building on Pershore Road South with state-of-the-art clinical equipment which will include one ophthalmology theatre and one endoscopy suite. Free parking will be available.

CHEC works in partnership with the NHS and has more than 20 community hospitals across the UK including at Coventry, Stoke-on-Trent and Worcester.

An official opening date has not yet been provided. But the new community hospital is due to open in Kings Norton early in 2024. Upon opening, the provider said that treatments in both specialties will be within four weeks of receipt of referral.

The new hospital follows a mental health hospital which opened nearby on Wharf Road in 2022 at the site of Oakleaf Nursing Home which is run by Active Care Group.
