Moving chocolate advert from Cadbury explores father son relationships ahead of Father’s Day

Birmingham chocolate maker Cadbury has launched a new ad - and it’s really got the dad factor.

The world renowned confectionary brand with its factory in Bournville has won much acclaim for its iconic adverts. There’s the drumming gorilla, the Milk Tray Man, the eyebrow kids and the caramel Bunny to name a few.

The latest campaign is the latest in the ‘There’s a Glass and a Half in Everyone’ series featuring ‘Speakerphone’ portraying a relationship and moment of connection - this time between a father and son.

It also highlights imposter syndrome, with a father who has just started a new job sitting in his car as he receives a phone call from his son who asks him how his first day went.

Viewers can see the father sharing his self doubt about his age before his son offers him the reassurance he needs - and guides him to a huge bar of Cadbury Dairy Milk he has stashed in his glove compartment.

It’s an impressively heartwarming story - especially as it features just one actor, and the Speakerphone, of course! With so many amazing Cadbury ads it’s great to see another showstopper ahead of Father’s Day.

Jonathan McCarthy, head of global brand, Cadbury and Toblerone, explained: “The ‘Glass and a half in everyone’ campaign is a big brand idea that serves as a platform for powerful stories.

"‘Speakerphone’ is a more than worthy addition to the series, bringing a fresh perspective with different relationship dynamics and narrative structure whilst staying true to the core elements that makes the campaign so successful.”
