With schools being shut for two weeks for Easter holidays, parents might be wondering how to keep their children entertained and occupied.
Fortunately, Birmingham has loads to do during the holidays from April 3 to 14 that won’t cost them any money. From science museums to art galleries and arts and crafts activities - there are many family-friendly attractions in the city. These activities are great for challenging your children creatively and intellectually and also building social skills.
It’s a jam-packed programme during the two weeks. From home activities on Bring it on Brum to parks, egg hunts and more - you won’t have to stress about finding things for your kids to do.
So, BirminghamWorld has curated a list of eight things to do in and around Birmingham this Easter:
1. Roundhouse Birmingham
Roundhouse Birmingham has free some free, family friendly heritage themed craft activities during the Easter holidays. Between April 6- 16, chidlren can take part in painting and building craft canal boats. All activities include a free “Local Look Around” trail leaflet for families to explore the local area, including a stop at the magnificent blossom display outside the IKON gallery. You can also go for free drop in tours of the building at 11.30 and 14.00 between Thursday to Sunday and see the free exhibition and film from 09.30 to 16.30 from Wednesday to Sunday. 2. Ikon gallery, Brindleyplace
Ikon gallery is an internationally acclaimed contemporary art venue located in Brindleyplace and entry is free. They currently have an exhibition about modern architecture ongoing until May 1. 3. Midlands Arts Centre (MAC) in Cannon Hill Park, Birmingham
Midlands Arts Centre (MAC) in Cannon Hill Park, Birmingham has the Grayson’s Art Club: The Exhibition ongoing. You can enter ground floor exhibition space for free. MAC has numerous film screenings for kids and families, if you wish to pay. Cannon Hill Park is a massive park and has a children’s play area as well. 4. Lapworth Museum of Geology, University of Birmingham
The Lapworth Museum of Geology is a geological museum run by the University of Birmingham and located on the university’s campus in Edgbaston, south Birmingham, England. It is free to enter and you don’t need to book ahead. The museum currently has an exhibition showcasing the life and archive of Charles Lapworth, a geologist in the late 19th and early 20th century.
