Police name a teenager charged with impersonating a police officer in Birmingham

A teenager has been charged for impersonating a police officer in Yardley, Birmingham.
Harris Mahmood, aged 18 from Lozells, has been bailed to appear before Birmingham magistrates on August 1. Police say they believed he was impersonating as an officer to create social media videos.

Hide AdMahmood was charged after another man was handcuffed and filmed by a third man at the Swan shopping centre in Yardley on Wednesday (July 5). The handcuffed man may not have been the only one Harris approached.
West Midlands Police said: “It’s believed the incident may have been recorded for the purpose of posting to social media. Our investigation suggests other people may have also been approached and we’d urge them to come forward.” You can get in touch with West Midland Police through their website.
