Just as the country recovers from a stormy start to the year with Storm Isha and Storm Jocelyn wreaking havoc, it now looks like there could now be snow on the way.

According to new forecasts from WXCharts, a so-called "double snow wall" will sweep in across the UK in the first week in February. The forecast has been echoed by Exactaweather expert James Madden, who told the Daily Star that the weather group's forecasts are "consistently showing up the potential for another temporary snow event".

He said snow could potentially hit parts of northern England, Wales and Northern Ireland/Ireland within this period in early February. However, the Met Office has not said it is expecting any snow disruption as we move into February. On what to expect over the next week or two, they predict more rain is instead on the horizon.

What does the Met Office forecast say for Birmingham?

As it stands Birmingham won't be hit by the potential snow wall, according to forecasts and WX Charts.

According to the Met Office, temperatures will range from 7 degrees and 10 degrees this weekend (January 26 to 28) with the weather remaining overcast with some sunny spells in Birmingham. This wil remain largely the same during the last couple of days of January next week, with dry weather and temperatures of 10 degrees and 12 degrees during the day.

For the first couple of weeks of February, the Met Office hasn't forecast any snow in the West Midlands region as of yet. The long range forecast (up to Thursday, February 8) reads: "Cloud and outbreaks of rain gradually move northwards across the UK, favouring the west with heaviest rain in some far western and northern areas whilst some southern parts dry with sunnier spells."

"Temperatures are expected to be milder than average overall, although this doesn't preclude shorter, colder spells at times, with a risk of overnight frost and fog accompanying more settled conditions."

The Met Office February 9 to February 23 forecast reads: "Through the middle of February, changeable conditions are most likely with the wettest and windiest conditions in the north and northwest. It is likely to be drier further south, although some wet and windy spells are still possible here. Later in the month there is an increasing likelihood of winds from the north or east, which will increase the chance of some colder spells and perhaps snow."

The BBC has forecast largely dry weather in Birmingham during the first couple of weeks of February, with temperatures ranging from 6 degrees to 12 degrees. The Broadcaster has also forecast spells of heavy rain between February 4 and Febraury 8.
