E-scooter crash in Birmingham: teen suffers life threatening injuries

A teenage boy has sustained life threatening injuries after the e-scooter he was riding collided with a car in Birmingham this morning (20 February).
West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to the crash at the junction of Stoney Lane and Taunton Road in Balsall Heath at 5.30am. Two ambulances, a paramedic officer and a MERIT trauma doctor and critical care paramedic attended the scene.

Hide AdAmbulance staff administered advanced life support to the teenager at the scene. He has now been transferred to Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman, said: “Crews arrived to find the rider of the electric scooter, a teenage boy, with life threatening injuries. Ambulance staff administered advanced life support and advanced trauma care to him at the scene.
“He was conveyed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital with continued treatment from ambulance staff en route.
“The driver of the car did not require treatment.”
