A 12-year-old boy who died after an electric scooter he was riding crashed with a bus in Bordesley Green has been named by his family

The 12-year-old boy who sadly died after a collision involving a bus in Birmingham has been today (December 7) been named as Mustafa Nadeem by his family.

The youngster is believed to have been riding an e-scooter when he collided with a bus on Bordesley Green on Tuesday morning (6 December).

He was sadly confirmed dead at the scene, despite the efforts of paramedics. The road was cordoned off while crash investigators examined the scene and police are urging any witnesses to get in touch.

Mustafa’s family are being supported and kept updated as West Midlands Police continue to establish the full circumstances of what happened. They are asking that they are now allowed to grieve in private.

School statement

Following the tragic incident, A statement from Washwood Heath Academy Trust, which runs the school Mustafa attended, read: “Washwood Heath Multi Academy Trust extends its deepest sympathy to the family of one of our young people, who was tragically killed in an accident on their way to school.

“We are supporting our young people and our staff at this time and are in contact with the family to support in whatever way we can.”

What has West Midlands Police said?

Det Sgt Dean Caswell, from our Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “Our thoughts remain with Mustafa’s family and they are being supported by our specialist officers at this awful time.

“We are continuing to speak to witnesses as part of our on-going investigations and would ask anyone who was on the bus, saw the incident, or has dashcam footage, to get in touch with us.”
