Police update on Birmingham city centre restaurant rape investigation

A man has been arrested on suspicion of rape at a restaurant in Birmingham city centre. West Midlands Police confirmed on Tuesday morning (January 2) that he has since been bailed.
Officers were called to the Revolucion de Cuba bar and restaurant on Temple Street shortly before 2am on January 1. The 24-year-old suspect was also arrested on suspicion of possession of drugs. He has since been bailed, police confirmed.

Hide AdWest Midlands Police said the victim is being supported by specialist officers as the investigation continues.
A statement from the force, read: "A man has been arrested on suspicion of rape after a disturbance at Revolucion de Cuba in Birmingham city centre. Officers on patrol were alerted to a disturbance at the venue just before 2am (on January 1)."


"The 24-year-old suspect was also arrested on suspicion of possession of drugs and remains in custody. The victim is being supported by specialist officers while our investigation continues. Anyone with information has been asked to get in touch quoting log 509 of 1 January.
"The suspect has since been bailed, and the investigation continues."
