We've taken a look at the latest migration data from the Office for National Stastics which includes figures on the number of people who have left Birmingham for other English cities and towns - and where they have move to.
The data covers the year to mid-2022 and it shows that 75,125 people left Birmingham to move to different locations across England in those 12 months. Meanwhile 59,091 people moved to Birmingham from towns and cities across England in the same time period.
So there were 16,034 more people leaving Birmingham to live in other English towns and cities than people moving into Brum. Being Britain's biggest city outside London and lying in the geographic centre of the UK, Brum has a great network of trains, roads as well as an airport connecting people internationally and domestically.
The data doesn't identify the reasons people are leaving - or arriving in Birmingham - but following career goals can be a key reason.
We took a look at the ONS data to figure out which are the top 15 places Brummies are moving to. Here is the full list of 15 top cities and towns Birmingham residents moved to in the year to mid-2022:

1. London

2. Sandwell
6,537 people left Birmingham for Sandwell in the year to mid-2022. Meanwhile 4,826 people from Sandwell arrived to Birmingham in the same period. | Ryan - stock.adobe.com

3. Solihull
5,828 people left Birmingham for Solihull in the year to mid-2022. Meanwhile 3,103 people arrived from Solihull to Birmingham during the same time. | Andrew - stock.adobe.com

4. Walsall
