The are the takeaway favourite in Birmingham often associated with late nights with you and old alike folk alike asking after last orders - where is the best kebab in Brum?

Well a few months ago, we decided to investigate this urgent topic, and found out that Lazeez Shawarma - now named Yummy Meal - on Pinfold Street in the heart of the city centre, is in fact Birmingham's highest-rated kebab house.

The kebab house that's opposite New Street station currently has a 5 star rating from 236 Google reviews. Many customers have praised the shop for being the 'best late night takeaway in Brum' with 'generous portions and great prices'. But what really makes Yummy Meal so special? well I headed down to the shop on an empty stomach on Thursday lunchtime to try one myself.

A wet and windy weekday lunch time maybe isn't the typical time for a kebab, but nevertheless, I was keen to try one having skipped breakfast in preparation for the big day. After walking into the takeaway, I was greeted with a smile and friendly service. The kebab house serves classic Middle Eastern Egyptian food and the sight of the food being cooked will get your tummy rumbling.

As I was reviewing one of their kebabs, the Yummy Meal crew member recommended that I try their Chicken kebab. They also offer tempting lamb kebabs as well as falafels, halloumi, cheese wraps and larger meal deals that come with chips. But I went with my recommendation and chose the chicken shawarma for £6. (a large will cost you £7 and meal deals cost between £8.50 and £13).

My kebab included chicken, lettuce, tomato, turnip, gurkin, and special chili sauce. I have to say it was quite delicious and certainly hit the spot. I also had a coke to wash it down. I've had a few kebabs after nights out in Birmingham over the years but it's easy to see why this is the highest rated one across the city.

The prices are good, and the medium wraps actually make for the perfect lunch meal. If you're on a night out, then the larger options or meal deals would perhaps be the better option, but Yummy Meal caters for all times of the day.

So is it Birmingham's best kebab? it's certainly hard to argue against it, but you'll have to try it yourself and make up your own minds. So be sure to stop by if you fancy a delicious snack in the city centre.
