We saw Birmingham city transforming as the German Christmas Market 2023 and ice skating rink come to town

We visited Birmingham city centre to see how the German Christmas market and festive ice skating rink is shaping up in Victoria Square and Centenary Square

The opening of the Frankfurt Christmas Market is just around the corner and residents of Birmingham won’t have to wait long to have the festive feeling.

Soon Birmingham city centre will be busy with people going around stalls selling pretzels, eggnogs, craft beers, bratwursts and more. From Victoria Square to Centenary Square, the public open spaces are going to be decked with lights, rides, and live entertainment along with the amazing food and drinks options.

We visited Birmingham city centre to see how the Christmas markets are shaping up and Victoria and Centenary Squares are already being prepped while there’s still no sign of a market on New Street. The market will return to Victoria Square and New Street on Thursday November 2 and go on until Sunday December 24, 2023.

The market will be open daily from Monday – Thursday from 11am – 9pm. On Fridays, it will be open 11am – 9.30pm, Saturday 10am – 9.30pm, and Sunday 10am – 9pm. On Remembrance Sunday (12th November) the market will not open until 1pm. Here are eight photos to show how it looks now:
