Alexander Harrison and Aadil Jabbar were both convicted of drug offences after a police investigation.

Two drug dealers who shared a police news article about drug seizures and asked AI about cannabis strains have been convicted

Alexander Harrison, aged 36, and Aadil Jabbar, aged 31, appeared in court last week following an investigation by a specialist team from West Midlands Police.

The pair, both from Birmingham, were detained by Operation Fearless officers who were on patrol in the Southside area of Birmingham in January, and stopped a car with a strong smell of cannabis from inside.

The two men in the car, Harrison and Jabbar, were searched, and cannabis was recovered, alongside more than £1,000 in cash, with further searches leading to the discovery of around 160 wraps of cocaine and heroin, and more cannabis.

The pair were arrested and officers carried out searches at addresses linked to them, where more cannabis and cash was found alongside items linked to drug dealing.

West Midlands Police said that analysis of mobile phones also found they had discussed one of the force’s news articles about drugs being seized in Birmingham, while also asking an AI assistant how to make a strong cannabis strain.

Both were charged, and in February, Jabbar, of Whitehead Road, pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply heroin, and possession with intent to supply cocaine, both relating to an investigation from December 2025.

He also pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs, after officers stopped him in January.

At Birmingham Crown Court on July 20, Harrison, of Dudley Road, pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply crack cocaine and possession with intent to supply heroin.

The pair will be sentenced in September.

DC Amelia Rose, from Operation Fearless, said: “We’re constantly alert to the signs of drug dealing, and we’re ready to take action.

“In this case, stopping a vehicle led to the discovery of a large quantity of drugs and cash, and evidence that linked these two to the supply of drugs.”

Operation Fearless Detective Inspector Tom Lyons said: “Drug crime brings harm to communities, and that is something that residents and businesses have been telling us in the areas we’ve worked in.

“We’ll keep working with our partners to tackle it, and we’ll keep listening to the intelligence you provide, as we work hard to make communities safer for everyone.”
