New data has revealed the areas of Birmingham which have the most divorces.

Figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) show the total number of divorces or civil partnerships dissolved in each Birmingham ward recorded within Birmingham’s local authority.

The data follows our story which looked into Census data that shone a light on divorce rates in the UK.

The data showed us that Birmingham is one of the nation’s leading hotspots for divorce. The city has been one of the UK’s cities with the highest rate of divorce for at least a decade, having also topped the 2013 list of the most common locations to file for divorce.

Brum has the highest divorce rate out of any city in the UK in the age groups 55–59, 50-54 and 60-64. Family law specialists at Beecham Peacock said: “You’ve probably heard the old adage that 50% of marriages end in divorce – and while the picture isn’t quite as bad as that, the UK divorce rate is estimated to be 42% of all marriages.”

Now, ONS figures can reveal the wards in Birmingham with the highest number of divorces. The data looks at the wards and households people lived in when the divorces were recorded. Let’s take a look:
