Wayne Greene, from Quinton, broke into a property on May 25 and stole three laptops and a silver BMW. Police tracked the car to Whitley Court Road, Birmingham where it was left abandoned.
Officer were able to identify Greene being at the home by using extensive CCTV footage from the victim's property and nearby properties. Due to the overwhelming evidence, Greene aged 40, changed his plea to guilty and appeared at Wolverhampton Crown Court on Wednesday (November 15), where he was jailed for two years and eight months.
PC William Moore from the West Midlands Police Neighbourhood Crime Team in Sandwell said: "We know the impact burglaries have on the community and no one should feel unsafe in their own home. Greene was identified by some really good CCTV footage in the area and we were able to quickly locate, arrest and charge him with theft of a motor vehicle and burglary.
