With the winter weather well and truly upon us, many Brummies will already thinking about where they can jet off to in the coming months to get some sun.

Many of us love the festive season, but those cold mornings can make you miss the summer months. Jet2 and Ryanair have all added new flight routes from Birmingham Airport in recent months, and the airport will also be adding new holiday destinations to escape to.

Many airlines have expanded their programme for 2024 with a high demand for holidays. Jet2 and easyjet have responded to the high demand for flights by adding new holiday destinations from Birmingham Airport.

We've taken a look at the new places that you'll soon be able to fly to from Birmingham in the coming months. Let's take a look.

New holiday destinations from Birmingham

1. Alicante, Spain: There is no doubt that Alicante is a touristy town, influenced by the nearby airport and holiday resorts. Nevertheless, it’s an energetic, attractive Spanish city with a castle, old quarter and long waterfront.

Alicante is only one hour ahead of Birmingham - so there’ll be no jet lag here. New routes to Alicante will start on 19 March and operate twice a week year-round. More information can be found here.

2. Barcelona, Spain: Barcelona is a city you’ll want to visit again and again. It combines months of endless sunshine, a relaxed pace and unbeatable food with stunning architecture and an enthralling culture. It’s everything that is most charming about Mediterranean cities, with a little extra.

3. Tenerife, Spain: Tenerife is the island of a thousand experiences and can be visited at any time of the year. Get lost in nature, relax on the beach, hike the Teide volcano, shop, play golf or walk the old town cobbles; there’s something for everyone in Tenerife.

4. Malaga, Spain: Málaga’s warm Mediterranean climate is what keeps people coming back for more. Long, hot, dry summers mean the city enjoys approximately 300 days a year of sunshine! Winters are mild and sometimes rainy.

5. Larnaca, Cyprus: Life in Larnaca revolves around the beach. The coastal promenade – known universally as the Finikoudes – is where locals and visitors alike come for a morning coffee or an evening beer. It’s the perfect place to chill out on the beach during the day and to stroll at sunset.

6. Enfidha, Tunisia: Enfidha is often visited by tourists on their way to Takrouna. Flights will start on March 21 and operate twice a week year-round.

7. Berlin, Germany: The German capital is a city rich in history and culture. It has a great music scene, plenty of famous restaurants and will also be the city that hosts next summer's Euro 2024 final.

8. Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt: Sharm El Sheikh is one of the most popular destinations in Egypt. Located in the southern part of the Sinai Peninsula, it's known for its white sandy beaches, clear waters, and stunning coral reefs.

9. Jersey, Channel Islands: At 9 miles by 5 miles, Jersey is the largest of the Channel Islands with lots of things to keep the whole family entertained. St Helier is at the heart of the island, but the rest should be explored too. From the magnificent south and west coast beaches to the castles and WWII fortifications along the north and east coasts.

10. Corfu, Greece: Corfu Town, also known as ‘Kerkyra’, stands halfway down the Corfu’s east coast. The name Corfu, meaning ‘peaks’, refers to its twin hills, each topped by a massive fortress built to withstand Ottoman sieges.

11. Kos, Greece: A fascinating blend of cultures, mosques, castles, fountains and iconic buildings, Kos is a town of endless treasures.

12. Heraklion, Greece: Heraklion (or Iraklio, to the locals) is Greece’s fifth-largest city and Crete’s capital. The city is the island’s economic and administrative hub but is also home to some of Crete’s best sights.

13. Rhodes, Greece: By far the largest and the most historically important of the Dodecanese islands, Rhodes offers an abundance of beaches, wooded valleys and ancient history. Whether you’re here on a culture-vulture journey through past civilisations, or simply for some laidback beach time.

14. Dalaman, Turkey: Famous for its beautiful, unspoilt beaches and hot sunshine, Dalman offers the ideal conditions for anyone that wants nothing more than to kick back, relax and soak up some sunshine. If you prefer your holidays a little livelier there are plenty of fun activities too.

15. Fuerteventura, Canary Islands: Whether you’re looking for a family holiday, a surfing adventure or simply to laze away your days on the sand, this island in the Canaries is a great choice. The party island is also a great destination for families looking for a relaxing holiday.

16. Agadir, Morocco: A resort destination, it's known for its golf courses, wide crescent beach and seaside promenade lined with cafes, restaurants and bars.

17. Marrakesh, Morocco:  Marrakesh is one of the busiest in Africa, with Jemaa el-Fnaa being the busiest square in the continent, and serves as a major economic center and tourist destination. It has a rich cultural history for tourists to explore.

18. Pula, Croatia: Pula is a city with a wealth of Roman architecture and its old city centre is full of culturally and historically valuable attractions. The star of the show is the remarkably well-preserved Roman amphitheatre, and there are lots of other interesting sights like The Triumphal Arch of Sergil and The Gate of Hercules.
