A-level results day 2023 - joyful photos from Birmingham schools & colleges as students receive results

We have put together a photo gallery as students across Birmingham received their A-level results on Thursday morning

Students in Birmingham and across the country are receiving their A-Level results, AS-Level and T- Level results as they get ready to progress to the next stage of their lives.

There has been a lot of anticipation in the lead-up to this year’s results after ministers in England said they want to restore A-level grades to pre-pandemic levels. This has led to a drop in the number of As and A*s achieved, although results are still higher than they were in 2019 across the UK.

Education secretary Gillian Keegan said A-level results on Thursday are a “testament” to the hard work of students who had a “tough time” through the pandemic period.

Thousands of students across Birmingham either headed to their sixth forms and colleges on Thursday morning (17 August) or received their results online. BirminghamWorld also spoke to students as they received their results at Sutton Coldfield College.

Sunny, a sports student at the college, said: “I got a merit, merit, pass, so that was really what I was aiming for. The original plan was to go to university and that was all I needed to get in, so that wasn’t a problem. But now I’ve decided I’m looking at more apprenticeship stuff and maybe just starting work straight away.”

We have now put together a photo gallery as students across Birmingham received their results on Thursday morning.
