A large number of events and developments will be taking place in Birmingham in 2023. Some will be large changes with a lasting legacy and making the lives of the people better, while others are interesting but largescale events that add to the culture of the city.
From Disney's Alladin to Oscar winning actor Jared Leto's band 30 Seconds to Mars to more hospitals and railway stations - there are changes and events spanning sectors.
2023 had its ups and downs with Birmingham City Council declaring itself effectively bankrupt while more investment was poured into the city's different sectors. Here are 14 incredible things that will happen in 2024:

1. BBC MasterChef studio completion
Work has begun to build the BBC's new Masterchef studios in Digbeth in Birmingham. Construction is set to complete in autumn 2024 and the BBC and MasterChef producer Shine TV (part of Banijay UK) will commence filming at Digbeth Loc Studios. The BBC say the ambition is for all MasterChef series to be filmed in Digbeth for the foreseeable future. | LDRS

2. Retro music venue Sally Brown's to open
A music venue with more than 300 capacity will be opening its doors in a trendy south Birmingham suburb in spring of 2024. The new venue with a retro theme is set to open its doors near the canals in Stirchley at the site of The Roadhouse - which closed in September 2017.Sally Brown's is being opened by Brummie musician Steven Davis on March 1, 2024. 3. Villa Park redevelopment to start
The redevelopment of Villa Park is expected to start in the summer of 2024. It will see capacity increased from 42,000 to beyond 50,000. Aston Villa Football Club were granted planning approval from Birmingham City Council in December 2022 for phase one of the redevelopment and expansion of Villa Park. It is expected to modernise the stadium to create a world-class sports and entertainment venue that can host major international tournaments and compete at the highest level.
