A 21 year-old man has been arrested after an Amazon delivery driver’s van was stolen in Stourbridge.

Officers used a police helicopter to track down the crime suspect after the vehicle was taken from Gatacre Road, Wordsley, at 3.30pm on Wednesday (March 1). Police said the driver was approached by two men in balaclavas who demanded he step out of the vehicle.

They said the suspects then pulled him out of the van while one made off in it and the other drove away in a VW Golf. After the driver called the police, the van and car were pursued through Gatacre Street, East Street and Redhall Road.

A police helicopter tracked both vehicles from above while officers followed in their cars. Eventually, both vehicles made it to New Road, Dudley, where they got out and into another vehicle.

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: “This was tracked down to Lawnswood Road, where one of the suspects, the 21-year-old, was arrested. He was interviewed and released on bail while investigations continue to locate the remaining suspect and get the stolen parcels back to their intended destinations.”
