Trendy West Midlands gastropub is tucked away gem for comfort, class, and child-friendly charm
Explore the family-friendly charm and comfort of this tucked-away gastropub gem, offering delicious dishes and a lively atmosphere.
If you’re looking for that sweet spot between stylish dining and proper pub comfort, The Lyttelton Arms in Stourbridge absolutely nails it.
We popped in on a crisp autumn afternoon — me, my partner, and our three small partners-in-crime: Alice (7), Ada (4) and Tommy (1) — and had one of those rare, glorious family meals where everyone actually eats and smiles.

First impressions? Gorgeous. The interiors have that blend of rustic charm and modern polish — think cosy lighting, soft booths, and just enough buzz to make it feel lively without being loud. The outdoor space is lovely too — I can already imagine long summer evenings with a cold glass of rosé out on the patio.
The food? Spot on.
The kids tucked into garlic doughballs to start, followed by chicken breast, sausage and mash, and a pasta dish for little Tommy — all demolished without a fuss (which, if you have small children, you know is the sign of success). They rounded things off with gooey chocolate brownies, which didn’t last long either.

For us grown-ups, I had a perfectly cooked steak paired with a rich glass of Malbec — a combo that never misses. My partner went classic with haddock and chips, then couldn’t resist the rum and toffee sticky pudding for dessert (I stole a bite… or three).
He also kicked things off with chicken skewers that were smoky, juicy and absolutely delicious. Everything arrived hot, beautifully presented, and full of flavour.

What really makes The Lyttelton Arms stand out, though, is how it manages to feel special and easy-going. It’s as good for a family lunch as it is for a date night or a lazy Sunday roast with friends.
The staff are super-friendly and helpful - and despite having three kids under 7 in two - instantly put us at ease.

And if you’re ever over in Solihull, their sister pub, The Kings Arms in Knowle, is another gem. Set right by the Grand Union Canal, it’s got a gorgeous courtyard and even rooms if you fancy turning dinner into an overnight stay.

All in all, The Lyttleton Arms has that rare mix of great food, great atmosphere, and family-friendly charm — the kind of place you leave already planning your next visit.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ from us — and from Alice, Ada, and Tommy too (especially for the brownies).
