A new and mysterious cocktail bar is coming to Jewellery Quarter soon.

The cocktail bar - from the team of 18/81 and Atelier - is set to open on June 2 at 53 Frederick Street.

Partners in business and in real life - Robert Wood and his fiancee Kyndra Vorster - bring their third venture together - Lucky 7.

The announcement was made on Twitter and the team said: “Lucky7 is a new cocktail bar from Robert & Kyndra (previously 18/81) and will land on 2nd June in Jewellery Quarter. Expect delicious cocktails, beer, snacks and vibes We can’t wait to welcome you to our new space. See you very soon Birmingham.”

Customers have been asked to remember the Kanji characters from Japan which say Lucky 7 as they’ll need them “very soon to help find” the bar.

They have described Lucky 7 as a modern day Izakaya - a type of informal Japanese bar that serves alcoholic drinks and snacks.

Robert Wood is an award-winning drinks creator and opened Atelier in Jewellery Quarter in 2022, inspired by Japanese and Scandinavian styles, located in a Grade II listed restored factory in Newhall Square, Jewellery Quarter - giving customers a global and intimate experience.

Wood and Vorster met at Birmingham’s award-winning hotel and drinks destination The Edgbaston, which has since closed, and have created some amazing experiences for Brummies.

Their 18/81 bar on Thorp Street was nationally renowned but it closed down in 2020. The bar was no. 21 in The Top 50 Cocktail Bars list.
