Birmingham's celebrity restaurant Asha's named one of the UK's top 10 Indian eateries in UK

Asha’s Restaurant & Cocktail Bar has been named in the top 10 UK Indian restaurants in the latest annual British Indian Good Food Guide

Asha’s, the only Birmingham restaurant named in the Top 20, was ranked seventh in the guide which describes itself as the “ultimate resource for discovering the best Indian dining experiences across the UK”.

The news comes just weeks after Asha’s management spent £500,000 on a major refurbishment and refresh of the restaurant first launched in Birmingham in 2006.

Asha’s placed placed seventh in the top 10 UK Indian restaurants in the latest annual British Indian Good Food Guide.

The venue has hosted a range of big celebrities including Tom Cruise, Ed Sheeran, the Rolling Stones, Steven Gerrard, actors John Malkovich and Jack Black, boxer Amir Khan and singer Chris de Burgh.

The guide says that Asha’s is “renowned for its authentic Indian dishes”.

The Newhall Street venue has gained global recognition on numerous occasions with Hollywood A-listers such as John Malkovich and Jack Black, and singer Pink also among the names to enjoy Asha’s food and extensive range of drinks and cocktails.

It has also received the seal of approval from acclaimed chefs such as Glynn Purnell, Heston Blumenthal, Paul Rankin and James Martin.

Asha’s has been the recipient of countless awards over the years including Best Restaurant in the British Curry Awards and Best Restaurant in the Asian Business Awards.

It is named after legendary Hindi singer Asha Bhosle, renowned across the world as one of the best-selling recording artists of all time. She has a passion for food with restaurants throughout the Middle East, and further outlets planned for the UK and North America.

What has the restaurant said?

General manager Nouman Farooqui said: “This is fantastic recognition both for Asha’s and for Birmingham and could not come at a better time.

“We are really proud of our reputation and excited that our recent refurbishment has been  widely acclaimed as a major, stylish refresh of the city’s favourite restaurant.”
