There have been many well-loved cafes and bars in Birmingham which have sadly been forced to shut down over the years.
Birmingham’s food scene is one of the very best around, with a blend of cultures helping to create some brilliant independents.
Unfortunately, with rising energy costs, as well as the impact that Covid-19 had on the hospitality industry, a number of great venues across Birmingham have been forced to close in recent years.
We asked our Facebook readers for the cafes and bars that they miss the most. Here’s what they said:

1. Elbow Rooms, Aston
The old Elbow Rooms bar was also frequented by Sabbath back in the day with footballer George Best | google

2. Mr Egg, city centre
A few people mentioned the old Mr Egg cafe in Hurst Street. Today, it operates as a Chinese venue at the same location | RBH

3. Route 2, Hurst Street
Route 2 was a bar in Birmingham's Gay Quarter. Was mentioned by our readers | Google

4. GIGI coffee bar, Moseley Village
