Thankfully, RSPCA Animal Rescue Officer (ARO) Baljit Dhamia was on hand to safely rescue them and set them free to paddle back to their mum.

ARO Baljit said: “The babies and their mum seemed quite distressed at being separated. I managed to capture the four ducklings and took them down to the water’s edge to reunite them with their mum.

“They were a little bit scared to make the leap, so I gave them a helping hand back to mum before they happily swam off.

“It was lovely to see the family reunited and paddling off down the canal together - it was definitely a happy ending. No ruffled feathers here!”

The heartwarming rescue took place at around 10.05am on 4 April.

When an animal is in need, the quicker they get help the better.
