Unai Emery’s side will welcome Bayern Munich to Birmingham tonight (October 2) in a repeat of the 1982 European Cup final. The home side will look to summon the spirit of ‘82 and produce an upset win against Vincent Kompany’s Bundesliga league leaders on Wednesday.

It’s set to be a huge occasion with the iconic Sabbath frontman showing his support for his local side.

Ozzy, who grew up just around the corner from Villa Park in Lodge Lane, Aston, posted a picture on his social media pages with the caption ‘Up the Villa!’ - as seen below.

Earlier this summer, the Prince of Darkness made a surprise appearance in the club’s promotion kit launch video alongside his Black Sabbath band mate and fellow Villa fan Geezer Butler, as well as players including Emi Martinez and John McGinn.

In the video, Ozzy speaks to Butler over the phone and says: “Let’s play Villa Park”, before cheering on the Villa, and shouting: “Sharon, have you seen my preds”? referring to the classic Adidas predator football boots.

Sharon previously announced plans for Black Sabbath to play their final show at Villa Park, although no concert announcement has been made just yet.

Villa’s clash vs Bayern gets underway at 8pm at Villa Park tonight. You can watch the game live on TNT Sports.
