As one of the rare DJs to secure the World No. 1 spot by DJ Mag twice, his legacy is undeniable.

Now, he’s bringing his unique sound to Birmingham.

DJ Paul van Dyk will take centre stage at XOYO Birmingham during the ‘For The Record’ tour, delivering a riveting 3-hour set on Saturday, 6th April.

This performance is part of Trancecoda’s day-into-night party in Digbeth, a cultural hotspot known for its international electronic music talent. 

“Birmingham’s definitely a music city. It has a rich history of music and has played a significant role in shaping the UK’s clubbing scene.

“The city has always been a place for musical innovation, and I am excited to come back and be a part of it” shares DJ Paul van Dyk.

Club culture is in a state of flux, with festivals becoming the primary platform. The closure of venues like Pryzm in Birmingham raises concerns about the future of nightclubs.

However, DJ Paul van Dyk remains optimistic about the future of club culture.

“Clubbing isn’t just about going crazy – it has a fundamental societal importance. New styles and interesting developments are often created in the club scene. Despite these changes, I remain optimistic about Birmingham’s club culture. It’s a city that embraces change, and I believe it will continue to do so,” he says.

His 3-hour set at XOYO Birmingham will not only showcase his musical prowess but also highlight Birmingham’s contribution to the nightclub scene.

His collaboration with DJ Pierre on ‘ACID TRAXXX’ further underscores his significance in the electronic music scene.

He shared, “We worked on it together and it evolved so much that it developed its own unique sound. We decided to release it as a collaboration, something new and fresh. I was inspired by the original and added my unique approach to it.

“Pierre is a really cool guy. He was already a key part in the electronic music scene when I was just starting out. Collaborating with him was an honour and a pleasure - paving the way for creating new materials.”

DJ Paul van Dyk isn’t afraid to experiment with new sounds and push the boundaries of electronic music.

His sets often feature premieres of fresh tracks, a trend that continued during the recent tour. We can expect nothing less when he takes the stage at XOYO.

“My sets are more like live performances, focusing on the raw, pure elements of electronic music. They’re dynamic, techno-oriented, yet they still have those amazing emotional melodic moments. It’s a punchy experience that takes you on a complete journey. It starts at one point and takes us wherever the music leads us. It’s like a wild card ride,” DJ Paul van Dyk explains.

“The setup I use doesn’t involve CD players or vinyl. It’s essentially a live recording that I have on stage. This setup allows me to create a unique sound that will only be heard and experienced on that particular evening,” he adds.

Celebrating the 25th anniversary of his record label, VANDIT Records, this year, DJ Paul van Dyk continues to support unique, emerging talents.
