Rumours that the Birmingham Broad Street nightclub PRYZM was at risk of closure circulated in January, as administrators were called in by Redom UK as part of a major restructure project.

Staff affected by the closure have been informed and work around redundancy payments is underway. The Birmingham venue is one of a number of PRYZM nightclubs closing across the country, including Portsmouth and Leeds. But not all the venues are shutting - Bristol is remaining open.

The parent company also owns Heid’s Bier Bar on Broad Street, in Birmingham, and this venue is not affected by the PRYZM closures and will stay open - much to the delight of many Birmingham pub goers.

Full statement from PRYZM owners on closure of Birmingham Broad Street venue

Peter Marks, Chairman of REKOM UK: “Following a review of our business, we can confirm that PRYZM Birmingham has closed with immediate effect.  REKOM’s other flagship venue in the city, Heidi’s Bier Bar on Broad Street, continues to operate and was not part of the process.

“Unfortunately, we were unable to reach an agreement with the PRYZM Birmingham landlord and have been forced to hand back the lease. Sadly, this means that our team has been made redundant.

“It is important to recognise that this decision follows an extremely challenging period for the late-night sector, due to the combination of the cost-of-living crisis, as well as the rising costs of operating.

“We can now look to the future and focus on our core cluster of venues including Heidi’s Bier Bar, which has proved incredibly popular and performed beyond expectations since opening 18 months ago.

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank our PRYZM team and the many thousands of guests who have made the club such an iconic night out over the years and we look forward to continuing the party at Heidi’s Bier Bar.”
