Cillian Murphy and Heath Ledger back on big screen to celebrate Christopher Nolan's career

The 21st century career of Britain's greatest modern director is being celebrated at Cineworld's West Midlands cinemas - but fans hoping to complete the set will notice that two notable early releases are missing.

London-born Sir Christopher Nolan CBE was knighted in 2024 after his multi-Oscar winning hit Oppenheimer earned Peaky Blinders' star Cillian Murphy best actor status.

Famous for his non-linear approach to filmmaking as well as spectacular large-frame cinematography matched only by epic, experimental scores, Nolan's next blockbuster The Odyssey with Matt Damon starring is already being trailed in cinemas ahead of its planned release next July, 2026.

But first, fans can see again some of Nolan's best works on the silver screen.

Cineworld is screening both Inception (2010 / 12A, 148 mins) and Interstellar (2014 / 12A / 168 mins) on August 20, 21, 23, and 25.

Batman Begins (2005 / 12A, 141 mins) can be seen on August 22 and 24. Nolan's Batman trilogy continues with the late Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight (2008 / 12A, 152 mins) from August 23-25 followed by The Dark Knight Rises (2012 / 12A, 164 mins) on August 24 and 26.

Oppenheimer (2023 / 15, 180 mins) plays on August 22 and 27.

Dunkirk (2017 / 12A, 106 mins) screens on August 26 and 28, with Tenet (2020 / 12A, 150 mins) rounding out the 'Nolan season' on August 27 and 28.

The films can be seen at Cineworld Broad Street, Wolverhampton (Wednesfield), Solihull and NEC, with a slightly reduced programme at Hinckley.

And the two major films missing in action?

Memento (2000) starred Guy Pearce as a man with short-term memory loss trying to solve the death of his wife - black and white and colour scenes depict events in chronological and reverse order respectively as he deals with his trauma-induced limitations.

Nolan's Scandi noir remake Insomnia (2002) starred Al Pacino and Robin Williams in the only film the director hasn't written himself. A psychological thriller set in perpetual daylight, two LA detectives try to solve a murder in Alaska.

Prices are £9.99 for IMAX screenings or £5.99 for standard screens - Unlimited card holders go free.
