Birmingham City suffered a double injury blow during Saturday’s win in Bristol

John Eustace’s side continued their strong start to the new Championship season with a 2-0 win against Bristol City at Ashton Gate on Saturday (August 20).

Goals from Koji Miyoshi and Lukas Jutkiewicz earned Blues all three points to make it seven points from a possible nine in the opening three fixtures.

Substitute Miyoshi scored his first goal for the club right on the edge of half time, while Jutkiewicz scored late on to seal victory. Eustace’s men have also kept back-to-back clean sheets and will be hoping to make it three wins from four when they take on Plymouth Argyle at St Andrew’s next weekend.

But Blues suffered a double injury blow during the win at Ashton Gate. Ethan Laird was replaced by Miyoshi with 40 minutes played, before Siriki Dembele also went off just before half time.

Eustace revealed after the game that both players suffered muscle strains. The injuries could force Blues to go back into the transfer market, with Eustace still keen to strengthen his squad in the remaing days of the summer window.
