Whitley Pumping Station on its way to making homeownership more than just a pipe dream
New life for historic Coventry landmark as show home opens this weekend
One of Coventry’s best-known historic sites is set to welcome visitors once again - this time it's to welcome local home seekers.

The former Whitley Pumping Station, a striking Victorian landmark on London Road, is now taking shape as a major new residential community in the area and is opening its show home door for the first time.
Dating back to the 1890s, the once-derelict site is being transformed by Morris Homes and Homes England into a new neighbourhood of 149 properties.
The project blends carefully restored architecture with modern design, bringing new life to the city’s industrial heritage.
Once central to Coventry’s water supply system, the red-brick pumping station will be converted into apartments, while the fire-damaged lodge house will be rebuilt as a four-bedroom home. The wider nine-acre site will also feature a mix of houses and apartments.
Planning permission was granted unanimously by Coventry City Council in 2024, and work began last spring. Homes are now on sale, starting at £357,750 for three-bedroom properties and £499,750 for four-bedroom homes.
Joanna McGarvey, sales director at Morris Homes, said the team is “thrilled” to be opening the doors for the first viewings.
“It’s such an exciting moment to welcome visitors to the show homes at Station Grange. After so much anticipation, people can now see first-hand how we’ve combined the site's heritage with beautifully crafted new homes.
“We can’t wait for buyers to experience what makes this development so special.”
The opening of the show home marks a major milestone for the project, and comes at a fitting time, as many buyers begin their property search at the start of the year.
