TV star Sian Reeves turns to nature with new project

The actress is bringing her ‘Seeds of Change’ project to Winterbourne House in Birmingham this month

Not content with appearing in hit TV shows including Cutting It, Mount Pleasant, Emmerdale and, most recently, Death in Paradise, Sian Reeves’ drive to create change means the actress, who is from Brewood in Staffordshire, is branching out – quite literally – into a new project, Seeds of Change, together with Handsworth Association of Schools and The Great Imagining.

Seeds of Change is an exploration of nature and the living world, as well as a gathering for youth social action led by schools from across the West Midlands and partnership organisations. These include Handsworth Association of Schools, The Great Imagining, Salt Road CIC, the University of Birmingham, Sustain West Midlands, Solar for Schools, Mental Health Aware, Let’s Go Zero 2030, British Red Cross, West Midlands Combined Authority and Change Kitchen.

Sian is running events at the beautiful Winterbourne House and Gardens, within the University of Birmingham, on September 18 from 10.30am to 4pm for schools, and again on September 19 for the wider community, when it will remain open until 5pm.

As well as workshops, there will be a variety of market stalls, mapping, discussions, creative arts and crafts, interactive artworks, music and plant-based food and refreshments.

Sian said: “I’m thrilled to be hosting The Great Imagining’s Seeds of Change events at Winterbourne House in Birmingham.

“These are free events to talk about small changes that everyone can make to help tackle climate change. There will be 10 tents covering all sorts of science, food, literature and films, all about helping us to save our Earth. Do join us if you can. It’s a beautiful venue to spend some time at and learn how to make a greener, wiser, fairer world.”

The Seeds of Change events are a superb way of raising awareness of the importance of our world without preaching. They are also simply a really nice way to spend a day, for both schools and families.
