Invictus Games Birmingham 2027 opens 2,000 volunteer roles
Organisers are recruiting volunteers for next July’s Games, with a quarter of roles allocated to residents of Birmingham and the West Midlands
A total of 2,000 volunteer roles are available for next year’s Invictus Games in Birmingham, with applications now open.

The positions cover a range of duties, including sports operations, ceremonies, accessibility services, media operations and venue delivery.
At least 25% of roles will be allocated to residents of Birmingham and the West Midlands, while a further 25% will be reserved for members of the Armed Forces community.
The Games will take place from July 10 to 17, 2027, and are expected to attract up to 550 competitors from as many as 25 nations, alongside their families and supporters.
The event uses sport to support the recovery and rehabilitation of wounded, injured and sick service personnel and veterans.

Helen Helliwell, chief executive of Invictus Games Birmingham 2027, said volunteers would help create a welcoming environment for competitors and their families.
Applications are open to anyone aged over 18, including those with no previous volunteering experience.
Recruitment is being carried out in partnership with United By 2022, the charity established to continue the legacy of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.
Michelle Turner, who competed at the Invictus Games in Toronto in 2017 and Sydney in 2019, said volunteers played an important role in supporting competitors.
Applications can be made at invictusgames2027.org/volunteer.
Tickets for the Games are also on sale.
