The Repair & Share Hub, organised by ecobirmingham at the Springfield Project in Sparkhill, offers simple clothing repairs, a swap rail and advice on making belongings last longer.

The next session is scheduled for Thursday, November 19, from 1.15pm to 3.15pm at the Springfield Centre on Springfield Road.

Entry is free, with advance booking encouraged, although walk-ins are welcome. Repair capacity is limited.

A separate session is planned for Thursday, November 5, at the Hub on the Green in Bournville, from 1.30pm to 4pm.

Organisers are encouraging people to consider whether items can be repaired, reused or swapped before replacing them.

The approach could also help families manage the cost of winter clothing and Christmas presents, particularly for children who quickly outgrow their clothes.

One option for parents is Kidora, a UK marketplace for baby and children's items, where families can browse preloved clothes, toys and other belongings listed by other households.

Some items are available for free collection, depending on local availability, while parents can also find unused or unopened children's gifts.

Families can use the platform to sell items their children no longer need, with no seller fees. The marketplace was founded by North Wales mother-of-two Karolina Gudes and operates independently of ecobirmingham's repair and swap sessions.

Residents are advised to check the latest information from organisers before attending the Repair & Share sessions.
