Edgbaston care home residents challenge local community to games showdown
Residents and visitors can enjoy traditional games, refreshments and friendly competition at a free community event
A care home in Edgbaston is inviting local people to join residents for a morning of traditional board games and friendly competition.

Metchley Manor, on Church Road, will host a board game café on Wednesday, November 4, from 11am to noon.
The event will give residents, families, friends and neighbours the chance to play games including Monopoly, chess and draughts while enjoying refreshments and freshly baked goods.
It is part of Care UK’s nationwide Bored Games initiative, which aims to encourage people to reconnect through traditional games and shared activities.
Sian Bradley, home manager at Metchley Manor, said: “We are delighted to be inviting the local community to join us for our gaming event and share in a morning of fun, laughter and friendly competition.
“Here at Metchley Manor, we’re proud to be part of the Edgbaston community, and events like this are a fantastic way of bringing people together of all ages.
“Traditional board games have a wonderful way of sparking conversations and bringing back treasured memories, and we’re looking forward to seeing residents share stories from games nights they enjoyed when they were younger.”
The event is open to the local community. To book a place, contact customer relations manager Cavell Farnell on 0121 468 1402 or email [email protected].
