Solihull road closures: dozens of for motorists to avoid this week

Solihull's motorists will have 27 road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And six of them are expected to cause delays of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that 22 closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• M42, from 9pm October 30 to 6am October 31, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42 southbound, jct seven to jct six, lane closures for technology works.

• A45, from 9pm October 28 to 6am October 31, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42 jct six roundabout, lane closures for construction improvements.

• A446, from 9pm October 28 to 6am October 31, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A452 southbound, from A452 Biddles loop to M42 jct six, diversion for construction improvement/upgrade.

• A446, from 10am October 26 to 3.30pm November 4, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A446 northbound, jct A446/A452 to Biddles loop, lane closure with switching for structural works.

• A45, from 8pm October 20 to 5am November 11, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A45 eastbound, Eastway, closure of Eastway from NEC westbound, access to A45 westbound, for delivery of bridge beams.

• M42, from 9pm October 24 to 6am November 12, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42 northbound, jct four to jct 5, Lane closures for technology works.

• A46, from 8pm October 13 to 6am November 18, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A46 both directions Leamington north to festival, Lane closures for drainage works.

• A446, from 9.30am October 24 to 3.30pm November 18, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A446 southbound, from M6 jct four Roundabout to Biddles loop, lane closure for construction works HS2 works.

• A46, from 9.30am March 28 to 4pm November 20, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A46 northbound, stoneleigh junction, lane closure and temporary speed limit for new bridge construction.

• M40, from 9pm October 8 to 6am November 21, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42 both directions, junction 3 to M40 jct 16 and M42, junction 5, lane closures for construction improvement/upgrade.

• M42, from 8pm October 10 2022 to 6am January 14 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42 both directions jct four to jct 7a, lane closures for drainage works.

• A46, from midnight, January 4 2022 to 6am January 29 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A46 northbound and southbound, stoneleigh, short duration mobile working for narrow lanes TM maintenance using IPV and TM vehicle.

• A46, from 11.59pm April 15 2021 to 11.59pm January 29 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A46 at Stoneleigh northbound and southbound, 24hr lane closures for, junction improvement scheme.

• A46, from midnight, August 16 2021 to 11.59pm January 29 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A46 northbound, exit slip at Stoneleigh Road junction, Lane closure on slip and No right turn restriction onto Stoneleigh Road for major scheme works on Stoneleigh Road.

• M42, from 9pm March 14 2022 to 6am April 30 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 northbound and southbound, junction 4 to junction 5, 24 hour narrow lanes and speed restrictions for technology works.

• A45, from 9pm August 23 2021 to 5am July 26 2023, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M42 southbound, junction 9 to M6 northbound, link road, Lane closure and link road closure for HS2 scheme work.

• M42, from midnight, January 31 2022 to 11.59pm January 31 2024, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M42, junction 5 to junction 7, northbound and southbound, various lane closures and slip road closures with temporary speed limits for new underpass construction.

• A45, from 9am August 29 2022 to 11pm February 29 2024, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A45 / M42, junction 6 roundabout and approaches, traffic signals on roundabout for underpass construction works.

• M40, from 9pm October 10 2022 to 6am April 10 2024, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M42 northbound and southbound, M42, junction 2 to M42, junction 5 and M42, junction 3A to M40, junction 15, 24/7 Lane three closure, narrow lanes and hard shoulder running with 50mph speed limit for Installation of central reserve concrete barrier, new technology, surfacing and road markings, and emergency refuge areas.

• M6, from midnight, August 15 2022 to 6am July 15 2024, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 southbound, junction 4A to 4 southbound and junction 4 south exit slip, lane closure for bridge construction works for HS2.

• A446, from 9.30pm September 21 2020 to 6am July 1 2025, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M6, junction 4a to M42, junction 9 northbound and southbound, lane and carriageway closures for construction of overbridge for HS2.

And a further five closures will begin over the next seven days:

• A446, from 8pm October 31 to 6am November 1, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M6 southbound, jct five to jct four, closure of jct five entry slip road including ring management around Castle Bromwich for emergency barrier repairs.

• M6, from 9pm October 31 to 6am November 1, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 southbound, jct six to jct four, lane closures for barrier repairs.

• A45, from 8pm November 7 to 6am November 13, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42 jct six roundabout to A45 westbound, lane closure leading to an off network closure of A45 westbound, exit slip road for construction improvement.

• A45, from 9pm November 7 to 6am November 13, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42 northbound, junction 5 to A45 westbound, Airport link road, lane closure for construction improvement/upgrade works.

• A45, from 9pm November 7 to 5am December 14, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A45 eastbound, Stonebridge Island exit slip road, lane closure for utility works.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
