Solihull road closures: dozens of for motorists to avoid this week

Solihull's motorists will have 28 road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And seven of them are expected to cause delays of between 10 and 30 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that 14 closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• M6, from 9pm July 2 to 6am July 4, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 northbound, junction 4 to junction 5, Lane closure for Construction improvement/Upgrade, Narrow lanes with single lane running.

• M6, from 9pm July 3 to 6am July 4, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 northbound and southbound, junction 4 to junction 6, Lane closure for White Lining/Road Markings.

• A446, from 8am June 28 to 6pm July 8, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A446 northbound, bickenhil lane to A452 overbridge, lane closure for concrete slab works.

• M6, from 8pm June 20 to 6am July 9, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 northbound, junction 3 to junction 4, Lane closure for White Lining/Road Markings.

• M40, from 8am June 6 to 6am July 16, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42 northbound and southbound, M42, junction 3 to M40, junction 16, Lane closure Switching for Construction improvement/Upgrade.

• A46, from 9.30am March 28 to 4pm September 2, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A46 northbound, stoneleigh junction, lane closure and temporary speed limit for new bridge construction.

• A46, from 11.59pm April 15 2021 to 11.59pm September 30 2022, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A46 at Stoneleigh northbound and southbound, 24hr lane closures for, junction improvement scheme.

• A46, from midnight, August 16 2021 to 11.59pm September 30 2022, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A46 northbound, exit slip at Stoneleigh Road junction, Lane closure on slip and No right turn restriction onto Stoneleigh Road for major scheme works on Stoneleigh Road.

• A46, from midnight, January 4 to 6am November 25, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A46 northbound and southbound, stoneleigh, short duration mobile working for narrow lanes TM maintenance using IPV and TM vehicle.

• A46, from 6am September 7 2021 to 11.59pm November 25 2022, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A46 northbound and southbound, Stoneleigh, Narrow lanes and speed restriction for construction of new bridge.

• M42, from 9pm March 14 2022 to 6am April 30 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 northbound and southbound, junction 4 to junction 5, 24 hour narrow lanes and speed restrictions for technology works.

• A45, from 9pm August 23 2021 to 5am August 9 2023, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M42 southbound, junction 9 to M6 northbound, link road, Lane closure and link road closure for HS2 scheme work.

• M42, from midnight, January 31 2022 to 11.59pm January 31 2024, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M42, junction 5 to junction 7, northbound and southbound, various lane closures and slip road closures with temporary speed limits for new underpass construction.

• A446, from 9.30pm September 21 2020 to 6am July 1 2025, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M6, junction 4a to M42, junction 9 northbound and southbound, lane and carriageway closures for construction of overbridge for HS2.

And a further 14 closures will begin over the next seven days:

• A46, from 8pm July 4 to 6am July 14, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A46 North Bound and South Bound, Lane two and three closure Before and after Stoneleigh junction.

• M42, from 9pm July 4 to 6am July 16, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42 northbound and southbound, junction 3A to junction 7, Amenity mobile works on hard shoulder.

• A446, from 9pm July 4 to 6am July 7, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M6 northbound, Total closure, junction 4 to junction 6 including M42 Links onto the M6 northbound, Lane and carriageway closures for Construction improvement/Upgrade.

• M42, from 8pm July 5 to 5am July 6, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42 northbound, junction 5 to junction 6, Lane closure for communications.

• M42, from 9pm July 5 to 6am July 8, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M6 southbound, junction 6 to junction 4, Lane closure leading to carriageway and associated slip road closure for Construction improvement/Upgrades.

• M42, from 5am July 6 to 8pm July 7, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42 northbound, junction 4 to junction 5, Lane closure for communications.

• M42, from 8pm July 7 to 5am July 8, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42 northbound, junction 3 to junction 4, Lane closure for communications.

• M6, from 9pm July 7 to 6am July 8, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 northbound and southbound, junction 4 to junction 6, Lane closure for White Lining/Road Markings.

• A446, from 9pm July 8 to 6am July 19, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M6 northbound, Total closure, junction 4 to junction 6 including M42 Links onto the M6 northbound, Lane and carriageway closures for Construction improvement/Upgrade.

• M6, from 9pm July 8 to 6am July 9, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 northbound, junction 5 to junction 6, Lane closure for barriers.

• M42, from 8pm July 9 to 5am July 10, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42 northbound, junction 5 to junction 7, Lane closure for communications.

• M42, from 9pm July 10 to 6am July 18, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M6 southbound, junction 6 to junction 4, Lane closure leading to carriageway and associated slip road closure for Construction improvement/Upgrades, 1. M6 SB Mainline diversion to the M6 J4 - A38 - A452, A446 to the M6 J4, 2. M6 SB Mainline to the M42 J6 - A38 - A452, A446, M42 traffic now splits off mainline diversion onto the A452 - A45, 3. A38 Out of City to the M6 SB and J6 M6 SB entry Link - M6 NB to J7 - M6 SB - J6 to join mainline diversion.

• M42, from 8pm July 11 to 5am July 13, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42 southbound, junction 6 to junction 3a, M42 southbound, J4 entry slip, Lane closures for communications.

• M42, from 9pm July 11 to 6am July 13, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42 northbound and southbound, junction 6 to junction 7, Lane closure for Construction improvement/Upgrade.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
