Solihull road closures: dozens of for motorists to avoid this week

Solihull's motorists will have 28 road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And six of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with drivers facing holdups of between 10 and 30 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that 11 closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• M40, from 9pm February 17 to 6am May 19, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42 northbound and southbound, junction 3a to junction 7, hard shoulder and lane closures for access to emergency refuge bays to replace signage.

• A446, from 9.30am March 1 to 3.30pm May 31, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A446 southbound, from M6, junction 4 island to biddles loop, lane closures for tree planting works in relation to HS2.

• A46, from midnight, January 4 to 6am June 30, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A46 northbound and southbound, stoneleigh, short duration mobile working for narrow lanes TM maintenance using IPV and TM vehicle.

• A46, from 6am September 7 2021 to 11.59pm June 30 2022, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A46 northbound and southbound, Stoneleigh, Narrow lanes and speed restriction for construction of new bridge.

• A46, from 9.30am March 28 to 4pm July 1, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A46 northbound, stoneleigh junction, lane closure and temporary speed limit for new bridge construction.

• A46, from 11.59pm April 15 2021 to 11.59pm September 30 2022, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A46 at Stoneleigh northbound and southbound, 24hr lane closures for, junction improvement scheme.

• A46, from midnight, August 16 2021 to 11.59pm September 30 2022, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A46 northbound, exit slip at Stoneleigh Road junction, Lane closure on slip and No right turn restriction onto Stoneleigh Road for major scheme works on Stoneleigh Road.

• M42, from 9pm March 14 2022 to 6am April 30 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 northbound and southbound, junction 4 to junction 5, 24 hour narrow lanes and speed restrictions for technology works.

• A45, from 9pm August 23 2021 to 5am August 9 2023, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M42 southbound, junction 9 to M6 northbound, link road, Lane closure and link road closure for HS2 scheme work.

• M42, from midnight, January 31 2022 to 11.59pm January 31 2024, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M42, junction 5 to junction 7, northbound and southbound, various lane closures and slip road closures with temporary speed limits for new underpass construction.

• A446, from 9.30pm September 21 2020 to 6am July 1 2025, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M6, junction 4a to M42, junction 9 northbound and southbound, lane and carriageway closures for construction of overbridge for HS2.

And a further 17 closures will begin over the next seven days:

• A46, from 8pm May 16 to 4am May 20, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A46 southbound, stoneleigh junction, lane closures with speed restrictions for works to central reservation barrier.

• A46, from 8pm May 16 to 6am May 20, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A46 northbound, stoneleigh junction, lane closures with speed restrictions for works to central reservation barrier.

• M6, from 8pm May 16 to 6am May 20, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 northbound, junction 4A to junction 6 - Lane closure for communications - CCTV outage.

• A45, from 9pm May 16 to 6am May 20, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M6 southbound, junction 5 to junction 4, Total carriageway closure, junction 4A to junction 4 for White Lining/Road Markings.

• M42, from 9pm May 16 to 6am May 20, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 northbound, junction 4 to junction 5, M6 southbound, junction 5 to junction 4, Lane closures with single lane running for Electrical works.

• M42, from 9pm May 16 to 6am May 17, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42 southbound, junction 6 to junction 4 , Lane closure for carriageway repairs.

• M42, from 9pm May 17 to 6am May 18, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42 southbound, junction 7 to junction 6, Lane closure for carriageway - Reconstruction/Renewal.

• M42, from 9pm May 23 to 6am May 24, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42 southbound, junction 6 to junction five, Lane closure for Construction improvement/Upgrade.

• M42, from 9pm May 23 to 6am May 25, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M42 southbound, junction 4 to junction 3A, lane closures with closure of, junction 4 entry slip road for emergency resurfacing works.

• M42, from 9pm May 24 to 6am May 25, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42 southbound, junction 5 to junction 4, lane closures with closure of exit slip road for barrier repair works.

• M42, from 9am May 25 to 6pm May 27, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42, junction 6 northbound, Lane closure leading to dedicated slip road closure to A45 westbound, (Airport Way) for works on behalf of major Scheme.

• M42, from 9pm May 25 to 6am May 26, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42 southbound, junction 4, lane closures for bridge parapet repairs.

• M6, from 9pm May 25 to 6am May 26, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 southbound, junction 3A to junction 3, Lane closures for technology repairs.

• M42, from 10pm May 25 to 5am May 26, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42 northbound, junction 6 to junction 7A, lane closures for bridge inspection works for HS2.

• M42, from 10pm May 25 to 5am May 26, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 northbound, junction 4 link road to M42 southbound, junction 7A, lane closure on link road for bridge inspection works for HS2.

• M42, from 10pm May 25 to 5am May 26, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42 southbound, junction 7A to junction 6, hard shoulder closure and lane closures for new bridge inspection for HS2.

• M42, from 9pm May 30 to 6am June 28, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M42 northbound, junction 7 to junction 8, Lane closures leading to carriageway closures for carriageway resurfacing.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
