Solihull road closures: dozens of for motorists to avoid this week

Solihull's motorists will have 28 road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And six of them are expected to cause delays of between 10 and 30 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that 13 closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• M42, from 8pm March 16 to 6am April 2, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42 southbound, junction 5 to junction 4, Hard shoulder and Lane one closure for communications.

• M40, from 9pm February 17 to 6am April 16, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42 northbound and southbound, junction 3a to junction 7, hard shoulder and lane closures for access to emergency refuge bays to replace signage.

• A446, from 9.30am March 1 to 3.30pm May 31, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A446 southbound, from M6, junction 4 island to biddles loop, lane closures for tree planting works in relation to HS2.

• A46, from midnight, January 4 to 6am June 30, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A46 northbound and southbound, stoneleigh, short duration mobile working for narrow lanes TM maintenance using IPV and TM vehicle.

• A46, from 6am September 7 2021 to 11.59pm June 30 2022, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A46 northbound and southbound, Stoneleigh, Narrow lanes and speed restriction for construction of new bridge.

• M42, from 8pm July 24 2021 to 5am July 29 2022, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42 northbound and southbound, junction 6 to 7, lane closures for bridge survey works.

• A46, from midnight, August 16 2021 to 11.59pm September 30 2022, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A46 northbound, exit slip at Stoneleigh Road junction, Lane closure on slip and No right turn restriction onto Stoneleigh Road for major scheme works on Stoneleigh Road.

• A46, from 11.59pm April 15 2021 to 11.59pm September 30 2022, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A46 at Stoneleigh northbound and southbound, 24hr lane closures for, junction improvement scheme.

• M42, from 9pm March 14 2022 to 6am April 30 2023, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 northbound and southbound, junction 4 to junction 5, 24 hour narrow lanes and speed restrictions for technology works.

• A45, from 9pm August 23 2021 to 5am August 9 2023, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M42 southbound, junction 9 to M6 northbound, link road, Lane closure and link road closure for HS2 scheme work.

• M42, from midnight, January 31 2022 to 11.59pm January 31 2024, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M42, junction 5 to junction 7, northbound and southbound, various lane closures and slip road closures with temporary speed limits for new underpass construction.

• M6, from midnight, March 9 2022 to 6am August 1 2024, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 northbound and southbound, junction 4 to junction 4A, Lane closure with switching with speed restriction for construction of overbridge for HS2 scheme.

• A446, from 9.30pm September 21 2020 to 6am July 1 2025, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M6, junction 4a to M42, junction 9 northbound and southbound, lane and carriageway closures for construction of overbridge for HS2.

And a further 15 closures will begin over the next seven days:

• A45, from 9am March 21 to 6pm March 30, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M42 southbound, junction 7 to 6 and junction 6 exit slip road. Lane closures leading to a closure of the exit slip road onto East Way.

• M42, from 8.30pm March 21 to 4.30am March 22, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42 northbound and southbound, junction 5 to junction 6, hard shoulder and lane closures for bridge inspection.

• M42, from 9pm March 21 to 6am March 29, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M6 southbound, junction 6 to junction 4, Lane closure leading to carriageway and associated slip road closure for Construction improvement/Upgrades.

• M6, from 10pm March 21 to 6am March 23, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 northbound, junction J4 to junction 5, Lane closure for inspection/survey.

• M6, from 9pm March 22 to 6am March 23, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 southbound, junction J6 to junction 4A, Lane closure for communications.

• M42, from 9pm March 25 to 6am March 26, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M42 southbound, junction 4 to junction 3A, lane closures with closure of, junction 4 entry slip road for emergency resurfacing works.

• M6, from 9pm March 27 to 6am March 28, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M6 southbound, junction J6 to junction 4A, Lane closure for communications.

• M42, from 9am March 28 to 6pm April 1, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42, junction 6 northbound, Lane closure leading to dedicated slip road closure for works on behalf of major Scheme.

• A46, from 9.30am March 28 to 4pm April 20, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A46 northbound, stoneleigh junction, lane closure and temporary speed limit for new bridge construction.

• A446, from 8pm March 28 to 6am March 29, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A446 northbound, Coleshill to Coleshill, Lane closure Switching for LA works.

• M42, from 8pm March 30 to 6am April 1, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42 southbound, junction 6 to junction 5 - Lane closure for communications- CCTV renewal.

• A45, from 9.30am April 1 to 3pm April 5, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A45 by Motorcycle museum, Lane closure for utility works on behalf of EE ltd.

• A446, from 8pm April 1 to 6am April 4, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A446 from M6, junction 4 to A452 Birmingham Business Park roundabout southbound, via Biddles loop, 24/7 Lane closure for off network closure for New road installation for HS2.

• M42, from midnight, April 4 2022 to 6am July 15 2024, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42 from, junction 7a to M6 South Merge northbound and southbound, Lane closure with Switching for Construction of HS2 Overbridge for major Scheme.

• M40, from 9pm April 4 to 6am April 16, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M42 northbound and southbound, junction 3 to 5 and M40 northbound, junction 16 to J3A, Various Lane closures Switching for inspection/survey.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
